HBCU Center Fellows

The HBCU Center Research Network (HCRN) Fellows Program
The HBCU Center Fellows (HCRN Fellows) are higher education scholars, researchers, and practitioners who are currently enrolled or employed by an HBCU and who embody the Center’s mission to serve as a generator and repository of research on issues of significance to Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). HCRN Fellows are vital members of our community whose active participation enhances the Center’s impact and reach.
About the Program
HCRN Fellows are integral members of the HBCU Center community and contribute to our mission to serve as a generator and repository of research focused on HBCUs. Fellows are appointed for one academic year (two semesters) and are required to submit a Fellows Project Plan (FPP) detailing their area of focus and outlining how they will document their experience through a capstone project.
Who Should Apply
We welcome applicants across three fellowship categories:
- Research Fellows
Scholars whose research focuses on topics relevant to HBCUs and who have demonstrated a commitment to documenting and illuminating the impact of HBCUs through empirical research. - Practitioner Fellows
Professionals whose work contributes to the Center’s programmatic priorities, encourages institutional collaboration, and fosters synergy among HBCU professional staff. - Graduate Student Fellows
Graduate students whose research and academic interests align with the HBCU Center’s mission to affirm, amplify, and advocate. Graduate Student Fellows must be enrolled in an accredited graduate or professional degree program for the duration of their appointment.
